ANNUAL CONFERENCE OF CIRM TO TAKE PLACE AT SINAVAL 2009

With Less Than A Year To Go Before The Event Opens, The Organisers Are Stepping Up Their Commercial Campaigns

The programme for SINAVAL is beginning to take shape. The event is scheduled for April 21-24, 2009. Along with its own programme - the 4th International Shipping Meetings and the 2nd Business Meetings are two of the main attractions - the 2009 event is also to host the CIRM (Comité International Radio-Maritime) Annual Conference, which is the world’s most prestigious event in the field of marine electronics.

CIRM, the International Association for Marine Electronics Firms, has chosen the Bilbao Exhibition Centre and the SINAVAL-EUROFISHING event as the setting for its Annual Conference and, concurrently, the main meeting of its governing board for 2009. On April 21 and 22, this conference, organised by the most important international organisation in the sector, will bring together associates, major manufacturers, systems operators and service providers including top ranking players in the field of marine navigation, communications, safety and information systems. Bilbao thus joins a list of host cities that includes Vancouver, Lisbon and Dublin.

CIRM is made up of 81 firms from 25 countries, and has been promoting marine electronics and electrics for safety at sea and the efficient management of marine transport for over 80 years. From the outset, the organisation has had a major influence on international marine legislation.

35 YEARS SERVING THE SECTOR

Promotion of SINAVAL-EUROFISHING 2009 at home and abroad is being stepped up, and the organisers are taking an active part in the most representative commercial forums. This year, separate working groups have been established in the fields of fishing and industry, through which various institutional and corporate players are co-ordinating efforts to develop improvements for exhibitors, technical seminars and visitors.

In the current campaign substantial funding has been earmarked for the capture of top-quality visitors, especially purchasers. This strategy is not new – it was tried successfully in 2007 – but this year it is being used more extensively.

With all this, SINAVAL-EUROFISHING seeks to respond to the needs of the marine industry, for which it has been working for 35 years. This is an industry that is constantly changing. Aside from the ups and downs characteristic of all economic activities, the event organisers have succeeded year after year in consolidating an updated scenario in which trade specialists can exchange technical and commercial information. The 2007 event boasted a total of 447 exhibiting firms and 6215 visitors according to figures audited by AFE (The Spanish Association of Trade Fairs), which monitors the authenticity of the data provided by its members.
