Presentation
The Bilbao Exhibition Centre (BEC) and the Chemical Engineering Department of the Higher College of Engineering at the University of the Basque Country in Bilbao have been staging the Environmental Engineering Congress since 1989, with sessions now taking place concurrently with the GEO2 Fair (the successor of PROMA, Spain’s first monographic environmental protection fair).
From the outset, the main purpose of these congresses has been to provide scientists, technicians and environmental managers with a regular forum for sharing results and progress in research, developments, engineering and management in science, engineering and technology applied to the protection of the environment.
The forthcoming Congress is the 11th of its kind. Focusing on the fact that today's main environmental challenges centre on sustainability, and on the needs arising from the implementation of latest-generation integrated environmental management policies and strategies, the Congress will consist of monographic sessions with guest speakers, round tables, presentations and posters over three full working days. The range of issues covered includes:
-
- • Environmental Planning, Policy and Management.
- • Environmental solutions, compatible with sustainable development.
- • Maintenance, exploitation and control of environmental monitoring and controlling facilities.
