The international fair of machinery and manufacturing Technologies will be held on September 25th-28th

NEW SOLUTIONS FOR INDUSTRY AT THE 2007 INDUSTRY AND TECHNOLOGY SUMMIT

Bilbao, 03.01.2007- Cumbre Industrial y Tecnológica, the Industry and Technology Summit, will be offering new solutions to industry on September 25th-28th 2007 at an international exhibition aimed at the leading capital goods manufacturing industries. This year’s event will again be sectorised into the following areas: Machinery, Equipment, Accessories and Supplies (covering welding, foundry and bar cutting machinery, forging, rolling & surface treatment, steel metallurgy, supplies and maintenance), Technology (components for machinery, robotics, electronics and electricity, industrial maintenance, management and business services, innovation & technological research) and Subcontracting.

The 2005 Summit brought together 1139 exhibitors in a unique, multisectoral setting, and acted as a driving force of the highest order for trade and industrial development for all firms committed to competitiveness, innovation and quality services. Surveys conducted at the end of that summit revealed that 80% of those taking part intended to take part again in future editions. On that basis, a campaign has been launched to attract exhibitors for 2007 by combining actions aimed at regular attendees and efforts to bring in new firms.

VISITORS: A MORE AMBITIOUS, INTERNATIONAL CAMPAIGN

The campaign to attract visitors is highly ambitious, and sets out to reinforce efforts made on the international stage. Those efforts will centre on the needs of exhibitors, who will indicate target groups of domestic and foreign customers. The Bilbao Exhibition Centre can thus concentrate its commercial efforts on them.

The same principle is applied to the programme to attract delegations of foreign visitors, organised by the BEC for the Summit and other international events in co-operation with commercial offices, sectoral associations, distributors, offices of SPRI (Association for the Promotion and Restructuring of Industry) and the technical press to ensure the attendance of strategically important trade specialists and thus foster commercial exchanges.

The Summit is a must for technical heads and purchasing managers from the aeronautics, automotive, railway, domestic appliance, machine-tool, shipbuilding and capital goods industries.

SUBCONTRACTING

The subcontracting sector will once again have its own section of the Summit: indeed this sub-event – the only one of its kind in Spain – has become one of Europe’s leading subcontracting fairs. Exhibitor numbers are up 13% from the figure of 612 achieved in 2005, and the event will bring together the leading domestic and foreign industrial subcontracting firms, thus providing small and medium-sized firms with an effective means of promoting their activities.

THE MOST COMPREHENSIVE INDUSTRIAL EVENT OF ITS KIND

As in previous years, the Industry and Technology Summit will be organising forums for debate in a broad programme of technical seminars and high-level meetings.

The topics discussed in 2005 included Innovation and Improving Competitiveness in the Foundry Industry, Galvanised Steel in Construction, Infrastructures and Industrial Facilities and the Current Situation of the Metal Industry, and the 2007 event will again look at the main challenges facing the industry.

The participative side of the event will again include a Contracting Forum: this is a programme of pre-arranged interviews between visitors and exhibitors that provides an excellent supplement to the Summit and enhances its potential as an event where business can be done.
