25TH BIEMH PRESENTED AT WORLD’S LEADING FAIR IN ITS SECTOR
Bilbao Exhibition Centre has presented a preview of the forthcoming BIEMH fair at the EMO in Hanover (Germany), the world’s leading machine-tool fair. BIEMH is scheduled to take place on 3-8 March 2008. The press conference was given by José Miguel Corres, CEO of Bilbao Exhibition Centre, and Koldo Arandia, Chairman of the Spanish Association of Machine-tool Manufacturers (AFM), the joint organisers of the event. The presentation was closed by Basque Govt. Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism Ana Agirre.
Speaking to an international audience of trade specialists from firms, associations and specialist media, the BEC spokesman presented a preview of the main facts and figures of BIEMH at the end of the initial registration period (in which registrations are up 6% on the equivalent period for 2006). Over 1000 firms have already confirmed their participation in this, the 25th BIEMH fair. A breakdown of these firms reveals that the subsectors from which most firms have signed up to date are cutting machine-tools (20% of the total), forming machine-tools (18%), tools for machine tools (15%) and accessories (13%).
AFM also announced data at the presentation that confirm the current positive situation of the Spanish machine-tool industry. The Bilbao Exhibition Centre attended the event in Hanover jointly with AFM, with which it is working closely, and with numerous Basque firms.
